Hello subscribers to Honeybee Histories! Now that we’re into our fourth year of this newsletter, I wanted to start being a bit more interactive and I thought I’d start by offering you a choice for some future essays.
What would you like to hear about in the varied history of honeybees and beekeeping? I have selected three topics for you to choose between, but I am more than happy to hear other ideas from you as well. Whichever topic gets the most votes, will have a two or three-part series of essays later in 2025.
The options are:
A history of Lorenzo Langstroth’s movable frame hive.
An analysis of the ‘father’ of English beekeeping, Charles Butler’s The Feminine Monarchie published in 1609
A study of Aristotle’s impact on knowledge about honeybees
The poll will remain open for 1 week, at which point I’ll start researching!
If there is something else that you would like me to bring to Honeybee Histories, please add a comment in the chat to tell me about it, as I would love to hear about your ideas and interests.
Thanks everyone who took part in the poll. It looks like Charles Butler's The Feminine Monarchie won. That's great. I'll get working on the topic immediately and aim to have these out by the middle of the year!
