Heather in Farndale, North Yorkshire (Pixabay)

Whenever I visit an area in the UK, I have started to seek out local honey for sale. Last year I spent a fair bit of time in Yorkshire, and thus I ended up with a variety of honey from northern producers. Out of all the honey that I brought I think my favourite was a heather blend from Aislaby, near Whitby. It had a light amber colour and a smooth texture. It was extremely tasty, and I was genuinely sad when I finished the jar. Another heather honey that I brought later in the year from the Sheffield Honey Company was surprisingly different, having a grainier texture. This too was nice, and both honeys offered a distinct taste which I enjoyed.

Two of the honeys that I purchased in 2024. The Sheffield Honey Company Heather honey and Aislabee Heather Blend Honey (authors own image)
